This journey began with Amy falling in love with Herbert the pig in East Nashville, Tennessee…

Believe it or not Flying Pigs Sanctuary was actually born in 2018, in Amy’s backyard in East Nashville but she didn’t even know it.

Amy fell in love with a pig named Herbert who lived in the backyard of neighbors house in East Nashville.  She visited him 2x sometimes 3x daily. When the neighbors were no longer able to care for Herbert (he was almost 1) Amy asked if she could try taking care of him at her house just a few blocks down the road.

That decision changed the trajectory of her life forever in all the best possible ways. Herbert was the neighborhood mascot, he frequented Bongo Java (the local coffee shop) and all the Moms of the neighborhood knew when he would be out for his walks so he had many children that loved and adored him but Amy always felt like he needed a farm so he could have room to roam and farm animal friends. Little did she know that he would take her to a 100 acre farm in Grandview, TN that is now known as Lemon Lane Farm and home to Flying Pigs Sanctuary.

One by one, animals have found their way to the Sanctuary. The dedicated team puts their hearts and all their resources into helping these animals have the beautiful life they deserve. The sanctuary is named “Flying Pigs” but all animals are welcome.

Herbie is the guiding spirit that has saved 75+ (45 residents + 30 others we have aided in finding forever homes or rehabbed to get back to nature) animals and we are just getting started!
